Employee Relations Specialist

 

Coastal Carolina University invites applications for the position of Employee Relations Specialist in the Office of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity.

 

Reporting to the Director of Employee Relations and Benefit Services, this position will be responsible for performing employee relations and performance management related functions, to include: advising, guiding and coaching supervisors; conducting workplace investigations - from intake through interviews, assessments, written reports and closure; coaching employees on performance management and progressive discipline; conducting informal mediations as needed; offering guidance related to FMLA and ADA as needed; and creating appropriate communication materials. Must be able to correctly interpret, explain and apply state policies, procedures, regulations and statutes.

 

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree and experience in employee relations or a closely related field is required. A bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field is desired. Experience in the area of informal mediation and performance management systems and experience in FMLA/ADA are preferred. Higher education experience a plus.

Human Resources Manager II (AG15/61121493/FTE-S00625P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 06.  Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.   Position may require evening and weekend work as well as overnight travel. Out-of-state and/or in-state travel to conferences or trainings may be required.
