About Us:
Brookgreen Gardens, a nonprofit public outdoor sculpture garden in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, is dedicated to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of our region through art, history, horticulture, and wildlife. Our mission is to inspire and educate through our stunning landscapes and engaging programs. This position reports to our Education Department, where you will join a passionate team committed to fostering a culture of learning and community engagement.

Position Overview: The Coordinator of Outreach Programs is a part time position that will spearhead campus-wide outreach efforts, including our Brookgreen U educational programs, adult-specific programs, and community engagement initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Creative Education, you'll work closely with internal teams and external partners to develop and implement a variety of enriching programs and events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with internal teams to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
• Lead the development and implementation of educational classes, lectures, and workshops for Brookgreen U.
• Create and manage online registration systems, attendance tracking, and presenter contracts.
• Provide regular updates on program progress to the Vice President of Creative Education.
• Coordinate and execute public outreach programs, occasionally requiring night and weekend work.
• Foster community connections and implement initiatives like Brookgreen Buddies and Pathways 2 Possibilities.
• Work with the Marketing and IT Departments to promote programs and events.

Requirements:

• Associate degree or at least 3 years of experience in public speaking, communications, program development, and event coordination (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with diverse groups.
• Initiative and self-motivation.
• Ability to lift at least 40 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
• South Carolina Driver License

Physical and Environmental Abilities:

• Vision, hearing, speech, and dexterity for engaging with diverse audiences.
• Ability to lift, kneel, bend, and maintain visual concentration.
• Willingness to work in heat or cold as needed.
