SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Assistant Sales Manager will work under the supervision of the EVP of Sales and close collaboration with the sales team members to assist with development and implementation of group sales strategies. The ideal candidate will create strong relationships with stakeholders and facilitate effective communications to share best group sales and marketing practices and support the CVB’s public relations effort. The Assistant Group Sales Manager uses extensive discretion and independent judgement as well as a consultative approach to meeting the needs of the team and clients.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for providing internal office support as listed above.
  • Research to determine potential for new prospects for group business for the Myrtle Beach area.
  • Proactively develop strategies to increase awareness for the Myrtle Beach area as a motorcoach, events, meetings and conventions destination
  • In collaboration with the EVP of Sales and sales team, implement comprehensive strategies to advance the CVB’s mission
  • Coordinate assigned details for trade and other industry-related shows, events, conferences, sales missions, site visits, familiarization trips.
  • Serve as a point-of-contact for: CVB group sales Simpleview, MintPlus and other CRM programs; Lead assignment from all CRM sources including Cvent in a timely fashion; and Group Services with an emphasis on selling “customized” experiences. Complete lead entry into Simpleview CRM and trace entries for goals of sales team members related to member connections and client connection.
  • Experience and good skills with basic graphic design to assist in the development of materials for the sales team that meet the brand standards of the organization.
  • Develop, nurture and grow Chamber/CVB member and local community business relationships.
  • In conjunction with the Group Sales/CVB division attend: Chamber meetings as needed; Partner/investor meetings with key stakeholders and their respective group sales staff; Client events including sales calls, sales missions, tradeshows, site inspections and familiarization tours.
  • Project management from point-of-prospect/lead business through point-of-sale business, including tradeshow registration, tradeshow appointment book development, general preparation for shows and follow-up, data entry and show-related shipping, travel reservations and invoicing.
  • Create itineraries and confirm details of site visits/inspections, pre-planning meetings, familiarization trips, trade shows and sales missions. Create graphic materials from print materials to presentations to support these efforts.
  • Assist with group related publications, social media and website content.
  • Conduct and/or attend site visits/inspections, pre-planning meetings, familiarization trips, sales mission, trade shows on-site group welcome greetings, etc. as determined by the EVP of Sales;
  • Fulfill any reasonable last-minute client requests, as determined by the EVP of Sales.
  • Lead distribution, follow-up traces, and communications in Simpleview. Maintain minimal open traces and work with sales team to manage any open leads.
  • Follow-up with trade show leads and contact attendee lists from shows.
  • Record all investor and client/prospect communications in Simpleview and work to maintain contacts in Simpleview purging those as needed.
  • Reconcile and process monthly expense reports and invoices for submission to finance department and EVP of Sales
  • Provide group sales support to other divisions and departments under the direction of the EVP of Sales.
  • Serve as staff liaison for various group sales committees, task forces and industry meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the EVP of Sales, Senior Sales Operations Manager and/or Sales Managers.

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • This position requires an associates degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Business Management, Communications or related field. Tourism , Group Sales, or Marketing experience preferred.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of (5) five years’ experience in Tourism, Group Sales, or Marketing preferably in a not-for-profit industry is required.
  • Experienced computer skills in an online Simpleview and CVENT CRM system preferred as well as graphic design programs including Adobe InDesign. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel products, area attractions, entertainment and restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area and knowledge of competitor destinations.
  • Valid drivers’ license and ability to drive personal and/or rental vehicles during FAM tours, site inspections and other sales activities.
  • Superior verbal/written skills and presentation skills. Good punctuation, spelling, grammar and attention to detail required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attend in-person or virtual ongoing training for industry knowledge, career growth and development.
  • Oversee group sales partnerships with CVB members and partners.
  • Evaluate current processes, procedures, campaigns and initiatives for efficiency, reach and ROI with the EVP of Sales.
  • Build strong proactive relationships internally and externally.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for accurate reporting.
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of industry changes and trends including local community.
  • Comprehensive experience and demonstrated success in a dynamic team environment.
  • Must demonstrate a strong and consistent ability to prioritize activities within specific time guidelines and to handle multiple responsibilities at once while meeting deadlines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment and associated software including computers, phones, photocopies and filing cabinets.
  • Frequent periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer using eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs pounds at a time.
  • Travel with clients on local tours driving in a motor vehicle for visits on an occasional basis in changing climate conditions.
