SUMMARY OF POSITION

An enthusiastic, creative and dependable marketing intern to collaborate with the marketing team in each stage of marketing campaigns. Your work will include developing, growing, and expanding the marketing channels through content creation, storytelling, social media outreach, blogging, and strategic planning.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Assist and support video producer during shoots.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials as assigned by marketing department (i.e. signage, mock-ups, email, and social media content).
  • Assist with creating and publishing content online on VisitMyrtleBeach.com, MyrtleBeachAreaCVB.com or other sites assigned (blog posts, articles, content, photos, video).
  • Assist with migrating and tagging digital assets (video, photography) online.
  • Assist with recording and reporting of media placements by members.
  • Assist in planning and staffing of trade shows.
  • Provide administrative support to management when required.
  • Assist in planning and hosting marketing events.
  • Willingness to learn on the job and share experiences with other members of the team
  • Other duties as assigned as deemed necessary to support the Marketing Department

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or a recent college graduate from an accredited college university studying sales, marketing, or communications.
  • Experienced computer skills in graphic design software, such as Adobe products, Adobe Premiere Pro preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Attendance and Dependability: The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious, about assignments.
  • Relationships with Others: The employee works effectively and relates well with others, including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Chamber. The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works, to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with all employee, including responses to electronic communications
  • Self-motivated, high energy, and organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT

  • Frequent periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer using eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.

INTERSHIP WORK SCHEDULE

  • The position will beginning after the end of the Spring semester and last through the summer and end at an agreed upon date before the beginning of fall semester.
  • This position will last no longer than 12 weeks.
  • Work scheduled is flexible, but anticipate approximately 30 hours per week.
  • Work is to be performed within the Chamber’s normal business hours of 8:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
